External Hosting
This website is hosted by an external service provider (host). Personal data collected on this website are stored on the servers of the host. These may include, but are not limited to, IP addresses, contact requests, metadata and communications, contract information, contact information, names, web page access, and other data generated through a web site.
The host is used for the purpose of fulfilling the contract with our potential and existing customers (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and in the interest of secure, fast, and efficient provision of our online services by a professional provider (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Our host will only process your data to the extent necessary to fulfill its performance obligations and to follow our instructions with respect to such data.

Execution of a contract data processing agreement
In order to guarantee processing in compliance with data protection regulations, we have concluded an order processing contract with our host.
Analysis tools and advertising
Matomo (formerly called Piwik)
This website uses the open-source web analysis service Matomo. Matomo uses technologies that make it possible to recognize the user across multiple pages with the aim of analyzing the user patterns (e.g. cookies or device fingerprinting). The information recorded by Matomo about the use of this website will be stored on our server. Prior to archiving, the IP address will first be anonymized.
Through Matomo, we are able to collect and analyze data on the use of our website-by-website visitors. This enables us to find out, for instance, when which page views occurred and from which region they came. In addition, we collect various log files (e.g. IP address, referrer, browser, and operating system used) and can measure whether our website visitors perform certain actions (e.g. clicks, purchases, etc.).
The use of this analysis tool is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. The website operator has a legitimate interest in the analysis of user patterns, in order to optimize the operator’s web offerings and advertising. If a corresponding agreement has been requested (e.g. an agreement to the storage of cookies), the processing takes place exclusively on the basis of Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR; the agreement can be revoked at any time.
IP anonymization
For analysis with Matomo we use IP anonymization. Your IP address is shortened before the analysis, so that it is no longer clearly assignable to you.

Execution of a contract data processing agreement
We have concluded a contract for order processing with these third-party providers, which guarantees that the data collected with Matomo will be processed exclusively according to our instructions and in accordance with the GDPR.
What type of data do we collect?
We are currently collecting three types of data:
- logs: automatically processed by the server for legal reasons.
- email: if you are sending us a message through the contact form, including of course the content of the message you sent us.
- behavior measurement: this is what Matomo Analytics is doing. So to say, measuring the different interactions that you have on matomocamp.org + subdomains.
Cookies
The cookies we are using on our website are the one of Matomo Analytics which is set in order to not collect any personal data. Please see below the different cookies this solution is using and what those cookies are doing:
_pk_id: this cookie sets an identifier within your browser in order to recognize you as a known visitor over a 13-month period.
_pk_session: this cookie counts the number of visits you are doing on our website.
_pk_ref: this cookie stores the website on which you were on before reaching our website.

Who we share your data with
Your traffic data are processed through Matomo Analytics and are stored on the server of one member of the team. So to say, your data are only sent to the MatomoCamp organizers.
All the current data that we collect are located in Germany on Peter Boehlke servers.
How long we retain your data?
Log servers are stored for 13 months.
Your traffic analysis data are stored for a 25-month period.
Your emails stay within our database as far as we hold the MatomoCamp first edition.
What rights you have over your data?
As all the members of the team are based in Europe, the rights you have are the one which are under the GDPR regulation.
- The right to be informed: this is what we are doing through this privacy policy.
- The right of access: you can exercise this right and have access to your personal data that we are processing about you if you can prove us who you are.
- The right to erasure: you can ask to have the deletion of the personal data we are collecting about you.
- The right to rectification: you have the right to have your personal data corrected if you ask us to do it.
- The right to data portability: you can get an export of all the personal data we are collecting about you.
- The right to object: you can exercise it through the use of the opt-out form for Matomo and/or to ask us to not process your email for example.
Other rights over your data under the GDPR regulation seem not applicable but feel free to contact us if you think that it is not the case.
